DOCENT OF THE YEAR

Process:
The Education Curator, Assistant Education Curator and Zoo Director will meet in December to nominate docents who meet the criteria listed below.
Eligibility & Criteria:
Those docents selected as �Docent of the Quarter� and the elected officials of the organization are the only members eligible for this award. The selection panel will rate each nominee according to these categories:
- Commitment to the organization
- Special projects performed (quality and difficulty)
- Spirit (enthusiasm, relationship to zoo staff, peers & audiences)
- Versatility
- Knowledge (animal handling protocol, program procedures, natural history)
- Dependability (timeliness, no job too small or dirty, helps the zookeepers)
Recognition:
The selected individual will be the recipient of a certificate. Their name will be placed upon the Docent of the Year plaque.
