Process: The Docent elected officials (president, vice-president, secretary/treasurer and records/extensions) and the Education Curator will meet quarterly to nominate docents who meet the criteria listed below. Docents may also be nominated by any active docent via the Suggestion Box.

Eligibility & Criteria:
The elected officials are not eligible for this award. The selection panel will rate each nominee according to these categories:

  1. Commitment to the organization
  2. Special projects performed (quality and difficulty)
  3. Spirit (enthusiasm, relationship to zoo staff, peers & audiences)
  4. Versatility
  5. Knowledge (animal handling protocol, program procedures, natural history)
  6. Dependability (timeliness, no job too small or dirty, helps the zookeepers)
Recognition:
The selected individual will be the recipient of a certificate. Their name will be placed upon the Docent of the Quarter plaque.
