Introduction | Species Cards | Gallery |
One can observe several species of animals roaming freely on the zoo's grounds. Common the Lake Springfield area, where the zoo is located, are House sparrows, Canada Geese and Chipmunks. Also, one can observe several Peafowl (both Indian and White varieties). Among White peafowl, peacocks are pure white, whereas females are a combination of light and medium tan. Chicks are similar to females, but with darker shades of tan. Peafowl of the Indian variety are those with the more familiar blue and green coloring. One can interact with the Peafowl near the pavilion. Also, chicks can be observed at close range during the right time of year.
In the pond around Spider monkey island, one can feed Mute swans, and many ducks and fish.
