INTRODUCTION

The birds of prey exhibit includes three species native to Illinois, the Red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis), the American kestrel (Falco sparverius) and the Great Horned owl (Bubo virginianus). One can also see the Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), which is a vanishing species, and Harris' hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus).
